Slim rego plates backing bracket for GU ?

I got some slim plates.
But at the rear there is now a gap below the plate with 2 square cut outs in the door. Looks butt ugly. I've seen some GU's with a black square backing plate of some sort that cover this up. Are these a nissan issue or ?? Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Here mate. See below the plate the holes in the door. I've seen patrols with a black plastic backing plate that covers that and looks neat.

The plate you talk of is standard issue nissan, and came out on early model GUs

you can buy square plugs for chair legs at Bunnings in heaps of sizes and in white, black and brown.
the smaller ones Id insert those interior trim buttons with a dab of silicon on them
