Hi all looking at a 2012 patrol wagon but have heard so much negativity re engine 3.0 ltre turbo have the problems been fixed since the earlier models,i notice the vehicle I am looking at has a oil temp gauge mounted on dash why would you need to do that is there a risk of oil temp problems?vehicle done less than 10,000klms as new are there any other important issues I should address before spending my kids inheritance, I am green as far as Nissan so bear with me and my silly questios

you'll be fine, most here have fitted after market gauges to monitor whats going on under the bonnet.
I have boost and EGT and soon I'll be fitting an oil pressure and maybe a trans temp gauge as well.
2012 models are fine it was the early 2000 -2003 models that had problems, and that fixed by fitting a NADS kit to your Patrol.
Basically just a manual boost controller, if you like the price go for it, they are a great 4x4 to own and drive IMO

If doing some towing, is the trans temp gauge recommended?

more for sand driving I would think, I tow a single cab camper with no problems
being light. Petrol models would benefit with a larger radiator.imo
But serviced correctly you'll have many years of motoring a head of you
Too many ppl freak out

Hi Chuck here.
Just returned from Mildura via various spots on the Murray.
My 2012 Gu is the ducks gutts for me, although I have only had it since October, it had no problem with 700 kgs of camper, the A/C is now the dogs best friend! the weather was great , hot and clear the temp guage sat at 50 % at all times.
We even had all 4 x 4 related lights and switches active!
There was 90 mill of rain in the area last week, bogggggy what fun!
go for it if the price is right.

I love mine, goes everywhere.
I've DPchipped it, 3" exhaust'd it, Boost and EGT gauged it, lifted it (although not my lift, thanx MR, sorry MR), mud tyred it, bullbar 'd it.
Now I try to use it for what it's built for.

Don't have a problem recommending it.

I have a 2008 3.0 litre and i tow a car trailer and a large camper trailer and have no problems. i have fitted a module and a bigger exhaust and intercooler and it goes great. They do ok on there own but I wanted a bit more torque for towing its a good 120 kw at the back wheels.
