Hey guys and girls
Well who would've thought I'd end up here......
I was selling My 06 Grand Vitara to put a little coin in my back pocket and buy something cheaper. I was pretty sure that I was getting an 80 series cruiser or the 105. I had always looked at the Patrols but growing up in a toyota bias family I was certain it was to be Toyota.........
Then one day, perusing carsales (as you do) There shined a shiny two tone, red over silver, 1998, NISSAN bloody PATROL GU Ti 4.5l dual fuel beauty!!
So after being quite taken with the centrefold type pictures I popped down to the gold coast from Brisbane to have a look at her in the flesh. Went to a storage facility and beside the 3 covered Buick's!! Was another covered vehicle that was the Patrol...Felt like it was a sign when her car cover fell to the floor like a dress in a bedroom and the excitement grew
OKAY I'm making myself a bit Ill now....Long story short, I bought a Patrol and here she is:
41559415624156141560
1998
GU Ti 4.5l
211,000kms
VGC for age
$10k, bargain!
Didnt realise until I was about to purchase her that she had a factory rear locker, that made me a happy man
I'll be picking everyones brains in the very near future
Cheers Darren aka dazashell

Forseeable in the near future is definitely a lift, sliders, tyres(after these wear, unless a bargain comes along), possibly a steel front bar too, rear bar if wife/money allows it.

It was meant to be. Very happy with her so far. Just got to sort out my rough starting on LPG. It has a auto system that starts on petrol then swaps after a certain amount of revs. A few little things to iron out and it's off road testing time.

Oh of course! Haha. I have also got a little suzuki sierra and jumping on the right forums is extremely helpful! This patrol was going to be a tow rig (so I told the mrs!) we'll see what happens

Welcome to the forum Darren. I had a 98 GU 4.5l as well. Was a great wagon and the only mods I did to it was a 2in lift and a winch. Towed a camper trailer around the State, no worries. Only problem I had was the starter motor. Enjoy.

….and the fuel economy….LOL! But now you don't even look at the fuel gauge anymore as you are too busy being pleased with yourself for driving a Chev!!

Just read some of the signatures.....looks like I'll have to get out there and blow this engine so I can join the Chev forum!
Fuel economy is no issue, dual fuel is great....happen to work with LPG
