over heating problems
Wats up people ? How is everyone doing this fine friday evening? I am doing great so to speak. I bought a Gq last week and its got me baffeled. I am having overheating problems, after driving for 20min the car creeps up too half 5min after that its up at HOT mark. After turning the car off all my coolant was coming out of the overflow bottle.I have done a few tests as well i ran the motor just idling it seems that the flow goes into the overflow bottle but does not return(which to me suggests rad.cap or thermosat) i have changed both and still the same results.
I have already done the following.
#1 flushed out complete system
#2 new radiator cap plus thermostat
#3 undone and retightend intake and exhaust manifolds (making sure there was no leaks)
#4 new belts and waterpump

Sorry to be a pain but can anyone help or suggest anything at all. I asked a mechanic and he seems to think that its the head and gasket. I am not convinced from his theory.
Much appreciated for any advice. CHEERS !!!!!

I see you have the TB42 Petrol.

It isnt sounding good, as the temp keeps ramping up......

Is it running just Petrol or is it dual fuel too?

Have you done a compression test to see if you have lost pressure between any of the cylinders, or is there any milky residue under the oil filler cap, or bubbles in the radiator causing it to lose water?

BloodyAussie has been having similar problems with his, and he may be able to give you more advice when he sees this thread

Yes the GQ is dual fuel but lpg system is out of date so i was going to rip it out anyway.

No milky residue under the oil cap or rad cap or on dip stick.

No bubbles in radiator.

Doing a compression test today to rule that out ( unless that is the cause :frown:)

I'll keep you posted after today's series of tests.
Thanks happygtu

Might be worth pulling the radiator out and hosing the fins out. When it's installed, it does a good job of hiding bulk mud and leaves and crap that you'd never realise was actually there.

I'd pull the radiator out, have it gone over by a professional, have it cored out (internally cleaned). You might find a heap of crap between the ac condenser and radiator or in the shroud..

Ow ok. Good job to be in lol..

Many have good outcomes with coring the radiators due to casting sand and crap left over..

Is threat running fine?? Could also be a tune issue..
