On a petrol vehicle I would consider anything with over 200000ks as high mileage, what would you guys say is high mileage on a diesel vehicle?

depends which motor you choose jury is out on the ZD30, but the 4.2 can reach 1/2 million no probs

I'm looking at a 2004 Patrol with 3.0L has about 290000ks on the clock.

IMO i'd think that's near the end as no one knows how long they last really as they blow up before hand.
That's a lot of Ks my 2004 just ticked over 200,000k and still going like new if I say so myself, So the one you are
looking at has done 29k a year, IMO Id keep looking.
Guys here are always on the look out for bargains or what seems a good deal on an honest Patrol

Ive heard of the 3l,s reaching 300000ks to buy at 290000 would be russian rulet
but thats just my opinion,if mine gets that far ill give myself a pat on the back
for looking after it

What exactly are you after, Diesel/petrol.
Then again you could buy the ST-L and put a 4.2TD in it and you've got it for life
@ Roofy what are you on ATM

The ones that are 300 now have properly all ready blown up twice so the running gear could be new!!!!!

Id like a diesel manual but nothing before 2004 if its a 3.0L or I would opt for a low k 4.8 auto or manual.

What would it roughly cost to do a 3.0L to 4.2L engine swap and would it be fairly straight forward.

$10-$12K complete maybe a bit cheaper if doing it your self, I put a 350 chev in a 4x4 for $5K
but engine only cost me $1200.

My 4.5 has done just over 300,000 clicks and is just purring along and I expect to get another 200,000 out of it if I last that long LOL

My Son in Law has a 4.2 TB that has over 600,000 k"s and is still going well

My GQ TB42 has just hit 400,000 and goes like the wind..although it did have a new head put on it 100,000 ago.

My cousin had a TB42 with over 600,000kms on it, did the head at about 500. I would consider 500,000kms to be high mileage on a TD42.
I wouldn't want to buy a ZD30 with 300,000kms on it though.

Petrol patrols have good power, thirsty if driven hard but isn't anything,
Think you could pick up a TI for some good dollars with some left over for
some goodies.
Put the word out on what you want and where you are I'm sure you'll be
bombarded with vehicles to choose from

Our 97 GQ (2.8td) had 410,000km when we sold it - now prob has around 450,000km on it and still going strong! I'd consider that high mileage :)
Our 06 GU (3.0td) has 148,000km on it. We plan to keep her for a while :D
