It was inevitable. I have a leaking diesel fuel pump on a GQ. It's done 320000kms. I've read around a bit and it looks like the options are a reco or change a couple of o-rings and hope for the best. I've decided to bite the bullet and go for a reco but my problem is this.. I live in Mansfield, VIC. There isn't any diesel specialists around and local mechanics charge a arm and leg to get it sent off and fixed. I was quoted $2300 by one joint. Sound pretty pricey with $700 for labour. I'm not totally convinced they know what they are doing either after I spoke to another bloke who had done the same job (removal and refit) in 2 hours.
It's leaking out a heap of diesel so I don't want to drive it far. Thinking about towing it to Lilydale and taking it to Diesel Tec and letting them handle it. Heard good things about their work and I'd expect it would be a bit cheaper. The challenge is getting it there. Could I tow it on a flatbed trailer behind a 4.2 diesel GU?

Any ideas?
