Yendor or anyone who may know...

Vehicle is a Series 1 GU Cab Chassis.

I have an "aftermarket" ballast type resisitor across IE in parallel with my sub tank fuel transfer pump.
There is no resistor shown in the factory manuals or factory wiring and it is def not standard.
I know why there are ballast resisitors in series with some fuel pumps albeit rarely these days however my question is...

What would be the purpose of a high wattage resistor in parallel with an eleccy fuel pump?
Reduced pressure? Heat reduction? Load limiting? NFI?

Hey mate,

Is the fuel pump still standard or aftermarket as well?

The only reason I can think of is, if they replaced the fuel transfer pump with an aftermarket one and the resistance was different to the OME. The sub tank module might detect this different load as a fault and stop fuel being transferred ??

That's all I've got.

Hmmm, you might be onto something there, Cobber.

The pump has a Nissan ID plate and in the correct spot but could def be non-standard. Not much else in the system is kosher but it does have a "TD42T" sub tank module

So far the only things I have found on this truck that it rolled off the production line with is the chassis and the windscreen wiper motor... but then again thats why I bought it :049:
