Aftermarket temp sensor

Hi all. I've just got myself a digital water temp gauge and now I find I need to also add a after market sensor. Does anyone know what the inside diameter of the top radiator hose is? So I dont have to take it off before buying an inline adapter. Or cab I hook up the new gauge to the factory sensor? Thanks for your help.

not gospel but 38mm rings a bell someone here recently
purchased a billet alloy adaptor that fits in line on top hose
