Had a problem with my series 1 GQ must have sucked some crap up in the fuel. Dumped that tank, and thats the first time the tank has ever been fully empty, now when I fill up the gauge doesnt go past the F like it used to and when it gets below empty, I still have 30 Lt's + left in there, is there a way of adjusting th gauge or should I look at adjusting the float in the tank on the sender unit? Or any other suggestions would be appreicated...

I would say its the float in the tank and would start there. The GQ float and sender design is useless in IMO........ mine has never been accurate. Your better of on filling the tank, filling a 20ltr jerry, set your trip meter and driving until empty and going of the trip meter.

Yeah. OE Nissan gauges are more like guidelines than rules. With the tank at full, the resistance between the terminals G&E on the connector under the rear floor cover, above the tank, should be 5 ohms full and 80 ohms empty. If the trouble has only started after the sender unit has been removed, I would think check the connector first to see if it is pushed all the way in. The senders are extremely delicate, so I hope it hasn't been damaged while out of the tank. Chapter 4 of the manual deals with checking and renewing the sender unit.

Chapter 4 of what manual? I have a genuine nissan workshop service manual and a Gregorys for patrol and maverick, and neither have a chapter 4 as you refer to about deals with checking and renewing the sender unit
