I have a 2001 zd30 patrol and the latest problem is the misses droped the kids off at school and came home and went to go out later and it wouldn't start again , a bloke came over and looked at it not to sure on what he did but he rekons its the fuel pump but I got my doubts I sprayed start ya bastard into the intercooler and it still wouldn't fire now I'm looking at one of those scan tool things but I cant get a answer on which one will work on my car ? I don't want to throw any more thousands at the car, it has been rebuilt twice so there is not much left under the bonnet to go wrong. any ideas will help

Sounds like you may have a perished fuel line somewhere,
check all your vacuum as well,
You say new battery but did you clean the post with a scourer??

ta mate I think there is something in what you said about the earth straps cause I did that and it was the closest it has been to starting . I used a file and some wet and dry on everything as well as the terminal. does anyone know does there have to be power in the fuel pump for the fuel to come out at the injectors I cant get fuel to come out even with the primer?

The primer won't be enough to get fuel to the injectors only to the pump. Hopefully Yendor sees this. Are you getting power to the pump? It sounds like it could be a nats issue.

Thanks guys bite the bullet, pulled out pump today, I got it to fire with super cheap degreaser instead of start ya bastard didn't want to but it worked and the other didn't. no fuel getting to injectors so process of elimination = busted pump
