Hey guru's, my GU is starting to get a whine to it similiar sounding to a supercharger, definitely related to the revs, I checked the belts they seemed fine, haven't had a chance to have a good look due to us moving, wondering if there's an idler that could be noisy?
Any insight would be great.
Cheers,
Eric.

Could also be alternator bearings.

Take the belts off and if it stops, it one of the pulleys etc etc.

Or leaking/split EGR
or warped exhaust manifold

Could be boost controller venting excess boost.
Mine has a whine and by trial and lots of errors, decided it was the boost controller once boost goes over 10 psi.

Id guess pulley first. Idler, alternator or aircon. The aircon pulleys (and clutch) don't like water/mud

also check the intercooler is not split, or the hoses that will whistle like steam.

Reckon it could be belts? Had a look at them on the weekend they seem to be a little slack and starting to crack, going to look into replacing them.

Also most audible after 2000rpm, anything below that and its I inaudible

If the belts are slack, that could be pointing to the tensioner pulley.....
Haven't you always wanted a supercharger anyway?

don't forget to check all turbo hoses and intercooler hoses
