View Full Version : Pajero owner looking to change to a Patrol

Hi,

new member....bro in law pointed me to this forum.

I currently own a 2002 Pajero and it's caused me no end of trouble in the almost 2 years I've owned it and I'm looking to get rid of it and buy a GU later in the year. The gearbox decided to fall apart a little over a year of ownership, despite it's relatively low mileage and decent service history and that cost me the better part of $6k...it's had a faulty temp gauge and now after a trip to the high country something is loose under the front end and there's something very wrong happening when it's at about 2000rpm in a high gear, probably due to me putting a nice dent in the auto tranny's sump whilst going for a drive with Mudski on New Years Day. Anyway...since I've been bitten by the off roading bug and I've always liked the look of Patrols...I want a something that I can source spare parts/accessories for easily, is safe for the family and is capable off road. I just have to convince the wife that she can drive a car that big.

Couple of questions on the GU....does it come with 3 lap sash seat belts in the back (I have 3 kids) and apart from the zd30 issue, are there any other known problems that could cost a lot of money if I'm unlucky?

Cheers

Steve

Welcome Steve,
I'm guessing you're Jonathan's Bro-in-law.....have heard some of the stories of your trouble. Good to see you've seen the light!
I'm pretty sure the GU is the same as the GQ in that it only has a lap belt in the middle rear seat.
