Hi all, I have a 2 inch lift on my 2011 gu st patrol and am running 265/70/r16 wranglers on it. Which I believe is around a 31 inch tyre. I want to go to a 33 inch tyre as I reckon they are a better offroad size. Would a 285/75r16 be ok to put on without the tyre scrubbing? Also will that size bolt on to the back door for the spare?

You'll have to remove the front mud flaps

X2 with Winnie mate. I don't believe there should be any dramas.
I'm not 100% sure but think you can get 35's under a GU with a 2 inch lift without any dramas.

Unless you are running a weird offset rim, 33's should bolt straight on (incl the spare) without any issues at all.

Doug the tyre you are running standard is a 32" 265/70/16, standard GU rims are +10 in the 16's, u can run 33" 285/75/16 & 2" lift with no issue but it will scrub the front mudflaps when flexing with the swaybar on & rear inner guards, same will happen with -13 rim, running -22 is technically illegal but no one will ever pick it up unless your rims are examined, this will never happen, these will scrub very slightly when you have no sway bars connected & is great for rock climbing as you get max flex out of the springs & shocks, be sure to adjust the proportional valve spring for the rear brakes, everyone will tell you it is not required but it is, put some weight in the vehicle or tow something & you will learn very fast you have poor rear brakes, your fronts will lock on dirt or tar in an emergency & you have no steering

I literally did this 2 weeks before xmas. Changed from 17" rims back to 16". 285/75/16. on king rims with a 2" lift. Looks great too. -13 offset. Still had to remove front mud flaps. No biggy. Spare fitted no problem. More concerned about extra weight on door though.

Dougy,

I run 33's on mine - with the front mudflaps still on the truck.

I had to put a spacer on the rear door for the spare though, as it wouldn't fit on the normal orientation as it hit the door and the rear bar. Mine are the factory alloys so I didn't want to turn the rim around...you may be able to do this and get away with it, but I still think you will need the spacer, as it lifts the tyre up, and spaces it out from the door.

Thanks Morton, I adjusted the valve spring when I lifted my last vehicle, have got the lift kit but haven't installed it yet, but will adjust rear brakes when I fit it. Want to go for the bigger tyres mainly for sand driving

Thanks happygtu, I looked at another gu yesterday and with standard bumper u may fit 33" but I have arb rear bar on mine and the original spare nearly touches already so I will need a spacer. Do arb sell these spacers?
