What a blast from the past that show is :)

Watching it this morning, I noticed 2 things

1. All the men are slim.....how we have all got fat as a generation!

2. They showed the Moree mud event ....the oh&s Nazi's would have had a field day with all the dodgy practices :)

They inspired generations of aussies to get out there and explore.
One trip they did they imported new 31" fatties for a trip, no airing down nothing and shredded
two tyres. They explored in Kombis early Jeep , F100 and land rover.
They covered most places we can only dream of

Anyone remember Australia's first television environment program, Nature Walkabout(1967) with Vincent Serventy. He travel Australia with his young family in a Land-rover. And way before the Leyland Brothers.

Thanks for the reminder NP99, they were great . My fav as a boy was Malcolm Douglas and as a young bloke enjoyed Ben Dark in the statesman . Liked Bens story tellin about Aus history and the explorers. At the same time as Ben I had a HZ 1 tonner as my set of wheels with a V8 and loved the open road so yeah ..fun times .

And Ted Egan in his Sigma.

All those blokes had great shows giving us a taste for travel.

Enjoyed Alby but he treated those around him as consumable. Once he was done with them he ditched them, that hot chick from Sale of the Century was one and a young bloke that owned a boat that caught fire was another.

But that leather bikini....

So where can one find episodes?

Yep, always heard about the Leyland brothers but have never seen a single episode. Would be great to see.

I got given a series called " The Bush Tucker Man" . Was about a Major in the Aussie army, who travelled all over the best parts of aus, showing not only the most spectacular scenery but also how to live off the land.

Yeah Ted Egan plays the beer carton. Top bloke I reckon. Saw him perform at Port Fairy before he became NT Governor. He co wrote & performed a musical about the convict days. Was really good stuff.
Alby Mangels went down in my estimation after the RSPCA raided his property somewhere in Vic & found a heap of malnourished horses.
Shame about Malcolm Douglas’ death, I believe it was a turbo timer which killed him. A bloke I know from Broome was lucky enough to spend time with Malcolm cruising & filming along the north Kimberley coast.
Have seen a few Leyland Brother episodes but would like to see more.

They did stuff you would never do these days, seeing they did all their own stunts with only an 8mm camera.
the daughter was hot.

Think Alby was rereleasing his movies and Judy Green was on ACA a bit upset as she didn't get paid for her part originally and here he was making more out of them not paying her a thing.
Not a 100 on that though.

Sounds right, there were a few episodes recently with Alby as an old dude.
Hope he never cried poor with his huge Cataraman and planes,
