Well been going over the patrol today tying too figure out the knocking noise from the back.. Seems the 3" lift is only springs, nothing else was done, shocks are standard length, swaybar hitting diff centre, no brake valve brackets ect :banghead:.. Now the question is do I go for, a new 3" lift or 2" lift? And what brand should I go? Thinking maybe a 2" suspension stuff lift might be in order.....

threedogs
28th December 2013, 02:36 PM
anything bigger than 2" will need to be engineered, and as you know already a 2" lift some decent mud tyres
will see you go most places, to perfect it whack a locker of your choice in the front. near on unstoppable.
Gotta be hot as heck up there today Eh

Hey Fletch, looking good mate,

What is the Carter Fuel pump? Is that a replacement Diesel fuel pump? I only know the TD42 and a new pump is Massive bud?? Is that what you have done? If so what sort of performance upgrade are you expecting? Could you not just Chip it?

The carter pump is acting to keep constant fuel pressure to the injector pump.. This was done on my old patrol and made it more responsive and drops the lug point of the motor couple hundred rpm.. I was able to go round a roundabout in 3rd without the engine lugging at all

Yeah right so basically an inline pump to provide forced pressure to the pump. Nice.

Yeah and get rid of the muffler in that 3inch zorst too bud. :) Unless you already have. I did on mine and I did notice a difference. Not noisy and very little droning too. The missus didn't even pick up on it when it the car and her ears will prick up to the sound of a flea fart.
Trust me there is no point for a muffler on a ZD30. Same as the CAT but for legal reasons I left mine.

2" Flexi MMMMmmmmmmm
would it flex more than a normal 2" lift or
would it flex quicker?
As I need a suspension as soft as possible, but difficult
because of winch, bar and dual batteries

Sits at height of a 2" but flexes like a 4" as its running 4" shocks.. I asked for the most comfortable shock they had and after doing some research ended up with the procomps.. They are smooth as anything.. Next time your up this way you can take it for a drive and mine has winch bar and duel bat as well

Thanks guys.. Fuel pump is a Carter 4600HP 6-8 psi with auto cutoff and pumps at 100gph..
I had too put extended brake lines front and rear for the suspension..
Suspension was got from suspensionstuff.com and they are there own springs made by dobinsons I believe

Are you turfing the vacuum canister under the engine cover,
Dumb question have you got the dip stick modification on your Patrol

Welcome back Fletch. Hope you're all rested from your short departure from the forums. :)

Nice truck mate, love the white ones. Looks just as tidy as the old Patrol.

Hey are you able to make up some wiring looms for the series 3 lights so it's plug and play with the older GU's? (1999)? Been meaning to look into it further but just haven't had a chance lately. I want to replace my old ones with the newer series 3 version as I hate the 1 reverse light! Also the added brake lights are good too.

Started the lift pump mod this week, have pump mounted and lines done ready too hook up.. Im replacing all the fuel lines while im doing this seeing as they are fairly old now.. Will have follow up pics soon after all completed and once spill line mod is done too compensate for the fuel pump

Few pics of the carter fuel pump fitted up.. Have it mounted to chassis mount for exhaust hanger.. Pump is quite loud so is completely rubber mounted.. Can barley hear it when the car is running.. Pump is run off ignition..
When installing a fuel punp the spill line return needs too be moved.. In the photos after u remove the intercooler you can see the spill return line that runs out near the first glow plug too the fuel in of the injector pump (fuel line thats bigger from the filter).. This needs too be teed into the smaller return line too the tank or pressurized fuel will be forced into the injector return line..

Patrol take off alot easier from a standing start (mine is a manual) and also a small noticeable increase in power and torque through the rev range.. Very happy with this mod

Also got rid of the small little driving lights on the front and fitted up a set of Narva 225's.. Very happy with them, good throw of light and will be better once I fitup a set of 55w HID's into them.. They also fill out the bullbar abit nicer :D

Bit more progress on the troll this week, have made and assembled a voltage interceptor for the MAF sensor, after some playing have leaned the idle off too get rid of the diesel smell as 3ltrs run rich at idle.. Managed too pickup a little bit more torque in the low too mid range.. I am also now running 18 psi max boost with NO LIMP MODE and the troll flies haha :D

Not bad just filled up the patrol after driving all weekend.. Averaged 12.8l per 100km which I think is pretty good considering I still have the leaky original intercooler, roofrack and awning, 2.5" lift and 33's with no chip

Interesting observation over the last couple of weeks after swapping bullbars. .
My EGT has dropped around 30-40° from where it usually sits cruising? Looks like there is more air flowing into the scoop on the bonnet with the new bullbars. . All the better for me.
I'm now at 8 psi and 310° EGT at 100km/h whereas before I was around 350° same scenario?

big_fletch
21st April 2015, 06:24 PM
well after months of having the drawer system built i thought i better get off my behind and finish my fridge slide.
The slides i bought 'Lock out' but they don't lock in that way i could use my own latch for the front.
Works great and matches in with the drawer system as well. Having a new Waeco CFX model, they have nut-serts in the bottom of the fridge so a few holes though the base panel and fridge is bolted down.
Now just have too get out for a weekend and test the whole lot out haha

I would think 80% of scoops are not working properly because they have fitted a bullbar,
I wonder if they take into mind the scoop on the GU's when designing it, because
nissan didnt design it with the view of a bull bar being fitted
I'm tinkering with the idea of fitting a piece of flat perspex at the top of the bull bar
to force air onto the bonnet.

Thats a huge difference IMO just from changing a bull bar

Looks awesome mate! Something I need to sort out in mine. After I do the lift pump mod and change over the inlet manifold. Lol.
I thought to have two drawers to one side so the fridge is lower. Saves buying a drop down slide.
