Hi All!

Been reading through here, about rims tyres etc. I want to get a set of 33's explicitly for bolting up when i go off road, and leave the A/T's on around town.

For this reason, i have been looking at used tyres/rims.

I have a set of landcruiser steelies (16" - 0 offset i think?) Will these suffice?

How much tread (mm) should i be looking for to still be a useful MT.

What rims would i need to use? for a 285/75 16, My understanding is that -13 or -22 offset is correct to line up with flares?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Santo

Landcruiser rims have a smaller hub than patrols so the rims can be a mongrel to get off. They will fit but VERY snug

The centre hole will need to be 110mm otherwise they wont fit.
If going 2nd hand go for 50-70%, price wise about $800-$1000 x 4
\16 x 8" only for 33s, what are you driving a U OR Q

Gu 4.8, so need 16s from what I understand to fit the brakes. I'll have to dog the cruiser rims out and measure. Would 0 offset be okay with 285/75 16s? Assuming the hubs fit.

Hey mate , I just fitted 285-75-16 on my 2011 GU with a -13 offset. I've got a 2" lift and still had to remove the front mud flaps. No biggy though.

I went a BFG KM2 in 305/70r16 on a -13 rim and is right on the guard, had to take off the front flaps and cut the corner off the flap mount with a 2" lift on a 2011 GU.

The cruiser rims don't fit.. The cutout is 110mm but there are some steps.. Looks like I'll have to try and offload them and get some oem rims or Sunnys..

Picked up some ~50% BFG mts (4) for $200...

Need a 33" spare of some form though.. It never ends!

33" I only run 285s or 33, plenty of room at the front near the mudflap

Upon closer inspection I was able to grind the notches away to complete the 110mm inner circle, now they fit perfect. I mounted one up with a tyre on it and it seems to clear everything with no rubs (285/76/16) and the rims are 0 offset I believe.. Happy chap that I didn't need to buy other rims. These Toyota rims are so heavy! I imagine they would be stronger than sunraysia style rims..

Fitted/Balanced the rest of the tyres, did a test fit.. they fit perfectly. Thanks for the advice.

Anyone know if a 33" will bolt up to the spare tyre loc or if they need a spacer? Want to try and mount a spotlight up there too.

Will post up some pics later.. The 0 offset pretty much lines up square with the flares.

Thanks,

Santo

Pretty sure your ok with 33's ,the spacer is more for 35s
You could pack the rear wheel carrier out 12mm with washers
if need be

Any ideas on fabricating a bracket to mound a flood light? Doesn't need to be telescopic, just fixed. I haven't got around to inventing yet.

Got one here you can have with the AT tyre it fits behind the rear wheel carrier,
I'd only throw it out . Its powder coated black
