Hi all. About 4 months or so ago I bought mu first GQ and im loving it. Its a 1996 Ti so has all the fruit. I was told when I bought it that it had a 2 inch lift but after looking into I have found that the Ti and ST are 2 inches higher than the base models. So I'm thinking its just standard hight. So my question is if I want to put in a 2 inch lift do I need to buy 4 inch springs and shocks? And also will I have to change other things at the same time? Thanks in advance guys and girls.

I'm not expert but thats the first Ive heard about the hight differences. Pretty sure the ride hights are standard through the ranges

There's a lot you have to change.
Castor bushes
Sway bar links
Diff breathers
Are for starters if you do a search in the search box you ll find heaps of info about suspension lifts and gq gu are pretty similar in kits

A lot of work and you cant really short cut a 4 inch lift... lots to do and all as important as each other.

Hi mate, in light of what's mentioned above are you now just after a 2 inch lift?

If your only after the lift for 33"s then a 2 inch lift is the way to go and still be legal.

Not many mods needed for the lift too as opposed to what's mentioned above and still keep your rear sway bar release function too which is a winner.

Well I am just going by what I have read in other forums. Maybe they are wrong. Can anyone confirm this? If they are all the same hight standard then it definitely is lifted.

Yeah I have never heard of different heights. Id be interested to read where it says they are different. There is no mention in any manuals that I have read.

Once you decide on which size lift you'd like or need then have a little search on this forum as there are quite a lot of threads with some good info:-)

If it is lifted it's not much, maybe an old lift that has sagged?
This is a 2" lift and 33s

I'd agree with Winnie, looks like the suspension has sagged a bit.
Here's mine with a 2" lift on 33s. Mine are also approx 3 years old

Might help if you have a picture with your trol on level ground though

I'd say that's standard. The guard gap is similar to the other guys anesthetic running 33" tyres.

If they're 2s then they've sagged a bit.

I have an st here with standard suspension under it can take some measurements if you like?

In the manual, it does have different spring rates, depending on whether its an lwb or swb, also depends on spec (dx or st) and or equipment (winch). Not sure if that would affect ride height though.

Possibly.. But not 2" I wouldn't think.

"Anesthetic" that's funny.......Although that's not your average sleepy 60. Its got a stroked 350 under it.

Also, those fibreglass flares will make the gap above the tyres look a little smaller compared to the other patrols that don't have them

Yeah but its still a 60s with leaf springs on all corners, tell him to do a spring over . You should be able to tell if your spring or shocks are after market
the shocks may have brand name or different colour same as for the coils

Im not sure what the springs are but the shocks are tough dog

Mine has a 2" lift. It would be fairly sagged and also may not be sitting exactly level. I just measured from the centre of the front hub to the wheel arch. Approximately 585mm

Just measured my GU and was the same as Lucas at 585mm [front]
In standard guise I think GUs sit 50mm lower than a GQ

I would say other wise. The st I have here with stock suspension measured to the flare (same style as yours) and it's only at 510

Taslucas' will be higher due to the mounting and style of flare he is using.

Ok cool. So I guess if I want to go any higher its going to cost the world

Yep, unless you go body lift. But that's the rear cheap way..

That seems to be true. The seating position seems higher.
