If it was framed behind glass and was inside the church surely it would not fade? Would be an awesome feature though!

I pretty sure even behind glass it will fade in the light, even if it isn't direct light.
It will need protection that's for sure but what I'm not sure.

I think under the gable in the corner with glass should keep it out of UV enough.

Also if you put a spacer between the glass and pic it helps protect it from fading as well, I was also going to suggest the uv glass.

First rule on Ebay, don't bid until the last minute. You are just making dearer for yourself if you put in bids now. Set your self a price and stick with it and wait until the end and put your max price in. Or wait and gauge the pricing on it until the end and then make a decision. But bid only right at the end, or using a sniping program which will bid on the last second if you want.

G'day Bloodyaussie,

Dont worry mate, I have a strategy that will allow us to obtain this piece of memorabilia for the forum members church, i have been extremely lucky with e-bay bidding!

I just had a look at e-bay and there appears to be three days to go, don't panic, we will end up with this!

PS, Lets not discus this matter anymore as someone might have a vested interest in deliberately causing the item to go up in value (dummy bids) especially if they have seen your thread. Remember the golden rule! Silence is golden!

Kind regards,

RLI

I have the complete road report from 1958 of the first Nissan Patrol to come to Aust not Datsun.
The article on the radio makes funny reading as the experts of the day all thought the transistor radio was only a fad and would not catch on. How wrong were they.
Anyway if someone wants to blow this up and laminate it let me know . not even Wheels magazine have this report in their archives

easy fix for fading mate, have the original reproduced by someone like a photographer and frame the copy, then keep the original in acid free paper for when the reproduction fades by reproduction i dont mean getting it i mean having a photographer copy it using scanning etc.

Of course as I said not even wheels magazine have this on file, was lucky enough years ago to stumble upon a whole heap of mid to late 50s magazines
.Maybe office works might blow it up and laminate it. Don't slam $50 on the ebay item he sells pages out of magazines like I have for $7.50.
Let me know what you have in mind, size etc

Nah a proper earth oven does not have a chimney.

Fire for 2 hours to heat the earth, remove fire and cook. Earth stays hot for hours.

Can throw some hickory chips or whatever in there if smoking.

Father in-law has made a few specialist tools for the job..
A banister brush on a broom handle.
Just a wooden one with quality bristles, not cheap nylon.
But don't leave it in there.
Will clean off ya sand, and any spilt toppings from inside the oven..

Second is a paddle.
10" disk from 6mm ply on a broom handle to maneuver the pizzas around.

We cook with Fire going. Gives the smokeyness about it.
But as said his is the kit one, not natural.

But enjoy. And don't leave em alone or you'll burn em. You'll find your cooking at 250+ degrees.. Bloody hot..

hey mate, ive just seen this and havent read through the whole thread. if you were worried about fading you would be better off scanning it and printing it on photographic paper which is fade resistant to about 10 years i think. and after 10 years you would just redo the print and voila. just keep the original handy for when you want to reproduce said picture.

also, the clip would be just too big for an 11x14 frameand would look much better with a matte border around the edges, somthing with a neutral colour. with a 12x18" frame(also a standard size) you could cut it in with a custom cut matte and the job woudl look schmick!

well office works will have the large format equiptment, and it will probably be done cheaper. however, if you were to do it at a proper photographers business they will likely do a better job. ring around and find out some prices and for what... just ask for a scan and print price and if they colour balance the image by hand or it its done automatically but the machine, as if its just done auto its more likely gonna come out a different colour(the add more blue to make it more white) which will take away from the authenticity...

Well on your bike John...... go and get it scanned I am sure it would look lovely in the church kindly donated by threedogs!!!!!

Thanks Nick when I get 5 min of my life I will go and make some inquires... cheers!!

well just to give you a head start $25 should get you a scan and print to a 12"x16" from a reputable photographic business. my mate that did the print for andy said that officeworks will do the worst job so only use them as an last resort.

i also asked richard about frame sizes. a 16x20 frame is what you want as it is a standard size. so keep that in mind for johnathon to get a matte cut for it.
