Now I have a lot of spare time, I have decided to sort my rear electrics out.

I have the spare battery in the back of the car, charged via a proper split switch from the front of the car, off that I want to run my internal and external LED lights,my fridge and keep the booster pack charged.

Now I could just hook a cigar extension plug up, the sort that has three or four sockets and plug the accessories in as I want to. But that seems a bit crappy, I would like something a bit better.

I did wonder about getting something like this.......http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-AF-8-Gang-Car-Boat-12V-24V-Rocker-Switch-Panel-W-LED-Indicators-Auto-Fuses/251387489537?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3 D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D3414830162712763539%26pid%3 D100033%26prg%3D1011%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D221 312851950%26......mounted in the front near me, so that I can switch things on and off as I like. However, that would mean running a lot of wires front to back.

Have any of you done something similar that you could post pics of,i`m really short of ideas on this and figured you guys must do something similar?

i would not think you want any of those switches in the front of the car. none of those type of accessories will be used while driving so put the switches in the back for access when camping.

cant imagine why you would turn your fridge on and off so just a plug for that, no switch. same goes for the booster pack if its a plug in job. plug and charge as needed.

I'd be running a large core wire to the back to supply the power you need for everything and hook up something like this for distribution. FUSE-BLOCK-BOX-HOLDER (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FUSE-BLOCK-BOX-HOLDER-CARAVAN-MARINE-DUAL-BATTERY-12-VOLT-12V-12-WAY-NEW-BTFB12-/290998301318?pt=Caravan_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43c0d9b286&_uhb=1) It will distribute the Earth too.

Then install the switches you need for the stuff you want to be able to actually control.

For my external LED lights for the awnings they are a Plug when required and have an inline switch in the lead.

I have a Air Comp hard wired and switched, a reverse light/ camp light switched but really not that much else you really need to turn on and off.

Thanks mate, now you have said that, I realise that you are right, why the hell would I switch things on and off whilst driving....................:1087:

With the battery already in the back, I could just get something like that, a set of switches ,connect to the rear battery and Bobs your uncle.

Be a damned site cheaper as well.

Perfect Adrian,

Then combine that with some of THESE (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/12V-SURFACE-MOUNT-CIGARETTE-SOCKET-ADAPTER-POWER-PLUG-4X4-BOAT-LANCRUISER-CAR-/280891031467?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item416668ffab&_uhb=1) and you will have plenty of places to plug stuff in and not break the plugs off during transit. You can get those in a Merit, Cig, USG, Gauge, Double and Triple blank panels. good setup and what i have,

Cheers Darren

the one I've recently used in my camper has an led indicator to show blown fuses ,the only thing is it hasn't got one pos terminal each one needs to be supplied power individually but I just soldered on a 125amp wire across the lot of them http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=SZ2001

That's a expensive cig plug lol

My power outlets are at the rear via this panel cut out replacement,
My fridge is controlled via a carling switch in the lower centre console, which leads to a 50amp Anderson plug
I also ran a very thick cable fused from my Aux battery along the chassis rail to the rear
of Patrol terminating in a 50 amp Anderson plug, which powers my camper trailer whislt in transit

Might add cig lugs aren't the best for running accessories, I prefer merit or even the Engel plug/socket
if powering sensitive equipment

I purchased something almost identical to that from Battery World in Penrith, NSW and am using it in the rear of my GQ. Great bit of gear, I have a socket hardwired to it for my fridge.
