Im planning on converting my tb42 patrol to a td42.

this means ill be replacing the gas tank with a standard diesel tank.now because its duel fuel I have a 45l fuel tank sitting under the drivers side of my car.rather that removing it im thinking just using sender and fuel pump as a sub tank.ill connect the main feed line from the pump back to the main tank.

obviously ill use a relay for the pump and an autometer (or similar)to read the level.do you guys think this is a good idea or will I need to buy a diesel fuel pump just to transfer fuel to the main tank.just chasing options from people who know a little more about diesel than I do.Thanks for your timemarti

is this on a Ute or a Wagon Marti? a 45lt sub is an Odd size mate. the standard sub on a wagon is 30lt through the GQ and the GU range and the rear is a 95lt. Aftermarket Long Range subs and generally 70lt.

what you have proposed seems reasonable but you need to be careful to have a shutoff valve when the tank pumps dry, as it stands now you stop working and konk out ;) but as a transfer arrangement it will endless cycle.

You could just source a Sender unit from a standard Sub tank and it will go straight in and have a transfer unit in it.

The td42's have a mechanical pump and your first option is pretty much how I'm doing mine (when I get it wink wink nudge nudge MR lol)

I'll have 2 Fuel values and one electrical switch,
So I'll pick up, Fuel return and the gauge Will all be switched with a Flick of a switch..

Yeah its an odd sozw because it duel fuel. The sub tank I have is an aftermarket unit. So your saying a standard patrol sub tank has a transfer pump in it ?. What model did patrols have a sub tank

I'm pretty sure all GU utes come with a sub tank as a standard feature.
