Fair trading are a crock of sh1t on a good day. I don't trust ACA or TT to report accurately. I tend to lean towards the muffler shop...

Yeah watched it and agree with NP99, reckon the muffler shop may be in the right. ACA and TT can make anyone look crooked, depends on how they want to angle the story.

Another reason to not accept cheques. You stop a cheque on someone after you receive the goods you gotta accept the repercussions IMO. The shop should have just called the cops really...

Cops won't get involved for a stopped cheque, it's considered a civil matter. If the car owner had called them they would have responded, question is why didn't he?

ACA's investigative journalism at its finest............ We can't make judgements on anyone involved when we don't know the full story and that's something we're not going see from ACA or TT.

Good for the exhaust shop. I would rather lose a few more dollars than let some guy rip me off. I always check a job before I leave the site, resolve issues then and there, then pay before I leave.
It's not hard

Nowadays to stop a cheque after you receive the goods is fraud, you cannot under the fair trade agreement stop a cheque because you are unhappy with the work, by law you must pay in full then give the shop fair time to rectify the problem or you don't have a case. Been there done that and the customer would not pay even after completing the work, then he tried to hit me up for some other minor thing and he threatened to take me to court so I told him go for it! Nothing happened except threatening phone calls to take me to court. Good on the shop, I would do the same!
