Time to start the upgrades

I got my 2007 GU ST Cab Chassis earlier this year. Been overseas for the better part of the last 6 months so only just got the funds to start making the changes I want.

Will primarily be used so I can access the more remote camping locations around WA's coastal areas, as opposed to going hardcore off-road.

It already has a UHF fitted, set of M/T ATZ 285/75R16, standard steel bull bar. Has a steel tray with a wooden floor.

Goes in for this Wednesday for:
- 2" Suspension lift
- 2 x HID Spotties
- Recovery Points
- Long range AM/FM arial (replace the stock that got snapped off the other week)

The week after I have the following booked:
- Canvas canopy frame with roof rack
- attaching rod holders
- stereo upgrade (dependent on how much time I have)
- awning to fix from the roof rack


That will be it before my xmas season starts on the 20th and I take off down south.

Planned for next year to get some more grunt are:
- EGT
- SuperSmart Modules
- 3" Exhaust

Still undecided on the following:
- Winch, would have to replace the bullbar and don't see the need yet.
- Front Lockers, sticking with the LSD in the rear.
- Storage/Draws, I plan to store most things in plastic storage boxes and am struggling to justify the additional weight. Though a slide raised platform I can lay the swag on, with draws below may, happen the the future.

there are a few members ATM building their own tray etc plus not to forget to Pod
Brigade, Have a search I'm sure you'll find plenty of ideas on how to set up a remote camper.
Don't forget to weigh your Patrol as you go along

yeah ive been looking around this all the builds for a while now which has been good for ideas. Ill keep a rather good estimate of the weight as i have a list of all my stuff in excel, adding a weight collum with 10% mark up for error seams easier than going over a weight bridge.

If I can make a small suggestion, make sure you are sure about the drawers etc ( ie the stuff that will be going in the back) as this will have a huge bearing on the hardness of the suspension you are getting put it... I went through 3 sets of springs on the rear before I got it right( I kept adding weight to the back....

If you have full coils all round, definitely add the Rear Suspension Tower Strengthening kit from Superior Engineering.

They have a bolt on kit for the CC, which is great kit at great prices too.

That should keep you from breaking anything in the rear with lots of weight on board.

Take Happygtu's advice about the spring tower brace mate. On the ute the tower brace is a bolt in and simple enough.

Ok so after a bit of advice on fitting the coil tower brace

Do I need to take the tray off or does that just make it easier for access?

Also the polyurethane part, I assume goes below on the right side after loosening and redirecting all the lines over the brace.

Not sure about the ute but I would expect there is plenty of room so you won't need to take the tray off..

Not sure what polyurethane piece you mean? Can't remember. You unbolt all the fuel lines off the top of the right side spring tower and they all go on top of the brace.

Although I havent done it as I have the wagon, I believe that you should be able to fit the brace without removal of the tray.

Your tray doesnt seem to have as much clearance as some others i have seen, but there is much more room than the wagon
