Farewell to one of the Great People of my Lifetime even after
serving 27 years in prison for anti-apartheid activities he still wanted
to live in Peace with the White People of his Country.

The World will be poorer for his Passing

I have been lucky enough to walk through the Museum dedicated to this great man, a very moving experience.

One of the nice things there was his Rugby Jersey from the world cup, I was alone in this large room and stood there in absolute awe of the symbolism that jersey carries.

What an absolutely great person. May his legacy continue on for ever. He is not to be forgotten.

RIP Nelson Mandela 1918 - 2013

I remember seeing a poster on a lamp post in London saying ‘Free Nelson Mandela - End Apartheid’. At that time I had no idea who Nelson Mandela was, nor even what apartheid meant. His name, his strength, his courage & his wisdom helped to educate me, just as it did for millions worldwide. Black South Africans have much to be grateful to him for, as does every single person on the planet. Vale Nelson, I doubt that any other person in history has been loved as much as you.

He taught the world a truckload about tollerance and forgiveness. It is a shame that perhaps not enough people have listened to that message.
It is indeed a sad day. One of the great individuals in human history.

There is a poem somewhere about the "-" symbol in a persons life.
Its not important they were born in 1918 and sad they died in 2013
it's that "dash" in between that means the most. It may be a poem from the RSL
but it made me shed a tear. those with more ability on a computer may be able to find it.
Very worthy for this great man, who leaves a great legacy for us all.

Edit I've found it, http://www.rontranmer.com/the-dash-between

Probably the most humble person that graced this earth. 1/3 rd of his life in prison and for what? At long last he can now rest...

Do not mourn his death, celebrate his life and what he achieved.
He achieved great things and his time in prison probably helped mould the person he was.
RIP
