Hi all been looking for someway to protect that last foot or so of Dyneema that attatches to your hook.
I looked at the sleeves you can buy but the don't fit on the spliced section. Don't have any push bike tubes laying around so just cut a piece of 25mm convoluted split tubing. This section would normally get pounded by rocks and grit day in day out. and if it were to fail I would think this would be the spot. Anyway works for me

Hydraulic hose suppliers have a protective anti abrasion and fire sleeve that is pretty tough.

Yep, me too, and it works a treat. Have had the same bit of bike tube on for over ten years now and it keeps things a whole lot quieter in the tinny. Nothing worse than someone chucking the anchor in and scaring the shit out of anything within cooee of the boat as the chain goes over the gunwales.
I like the idea of fitting it to the dyneema, but imagine it would mean removing it completely from the spool and threading it on from the other end? No doubt I should get around to pulling it all off and re-spooling one of these days anyway, so might take a look at that.
I think I have seen that stuff klompy mentions too. Looked like very strong and hard wearing material. Might be expensive though, not sure.
