Hey guys,
I'm trying to find out what the safe/ normal EGT is post turbo for a Gq .
I've got a newly rebuilt 1993 TD 42 diesel in a auto wagon .
I've rebuilt the motor , fuel pump ,injectors , 3" inch in 3" out straight though , new Garrett 2871r turbo and water to air frozen boost intercooler. Fuel pumps at 10% over standard still as it is yet to be tuned . It s rolling on 33s at the moment ,it's no power house , like I said its yet to be tuned. Water temp runs between 70 and 80 deg normal driving and will get up around 90 in the mountains working hard. Boost comes on at 1400 rpm and is fully spooled at 3000 rpm peaking at 14 pound. EGT seems hot to me but I'm looking for a second opinion if some one else no s what it should max at or run at from there experience ,
Cheers

Maximum safe post turbo 500-550. Generally cruising at 100 you want it around 250ish. That turbo isn't really suited to your application. Full boost by 3000 is very late. A few members on here have tweaked 4.2's, one making 120rwkw and 16psi by 1800, another which has a little more done to it 180rwkw and 30psi by 2000rpm.

Ah righto , well to sit on 100 km on dead flat ac it runs around 300 but as soon as u hit a incline it will rise relatively fast and to keep at 100 or not drop below 90 it will touch 500 in no time at all . Every rise and fall in the road u can watch it climb and fall almost like a tacho

Have a read of Winnie's build thread he had a similar issue to yourself. He has a very nice setup now.
