So after I got back from a drive the other week I gave my car a super clean as I was expecting to pull the engine out and I gave the engine area to good a wash.. car drove fine on the way from the carwash but after it had sat for an hour I got back in to have it running like shit on both gas and petrol.

So I stopped back home and sprayed everything and got out the air hose and this improved things but after a day or so the idle was playing up and as I had removed my tps to repair a broken wire I thought it was that but when I tried to adjust the tps there was none... one minute the idle would be fine then she just drop right down to the point of almost stalling..

So I assumed I had stuffed it and got a new one.. today I fitted it but the same problem was there so thought I would now search the wiring to see I did not break a wire somewhere..

I thought I would disconnect one of the two plugs and found it made no difference to the running of the car then I pulled both plugs out and the idle went to normal with no TPS connected at all???

So now I have left the TPS unplugged?? any ideas...

Do these have a aacv, air actuated control valve, these block up with crap and also have electrical connections.
Or the air control valve, also has elec connection.
both these should hook into intake plenum somewhere's and control engine.
Humm, Try looking at vac lines , could be a completely diff prob !.

Well I have had no luck and am driving around with no TPS connected at all??? whats the point of a TPS if I dont even need the thing plugged in??????

Car is running fine without the bloody thing its only when its plugged in that the revs drop right down?? Hmmm...?

hmmm... indeed. On mine (being a carby and auto) the tps sends info to help the transmission control module pick the right gear.
