Paint in steel bullbar

Hey every1 , had a little error in judgment today an just scraped a concrete wall with my bullbar , it's taken quite a bit of paint off , I was just wondering if there is a paint that will patch it nicely , I know from in the past wen I have used other black paints it sticks out like dog balls, I have heard that the paint on bullbars is like it's baked on or something????

They call it powdercoating mate, Its sprayed on like a thick flake then baked.


As for touching it up I'm not sure.

Oh it's only powder coated on that makes sense, hmm don't know if nething will touch it bar sandblast and repowder coating , if any1 else has some ideas will much appreciated

I'm pretty sure the pros can patch them.. A quick rub back, repair and bake.

Hi Daz,
Used to work as a polymer chemist for a company that made powdercoatings - there are hundreds of different types and formulations, some will rebake with a slight loss in finish, some hate/ will not stand rebake - it dependant on the type that has been used. Some coatings we supplied sticks/rods of the original material so you could patch deep scratches in the coating, others you needed paint to patch, and even them not as good as original finish.

You can buy touch up powder coating in a spray can, my powder coater has it.
Don't think it would be cheap though. Juton is the brand. As for re powder coating it
my guy would sand blast it first as it needs an earth so powder will stick,
steel wool and some enamel of the same colour may be what you need to do,
then cut and polish to suit
