Hi guys.
I'm mark, I've been talking to some great people on the other forum, Mudrunner recommends me starting a new thread here.

My 2000 3LTD just won't start, it flew up to the shops after work got back to her and she turns over but just won't fire up.
The RAA checked he glow plugs ect but only said he thinks fuel ?
When the key is in the ignition the light on the dash goes out so I think the key is ok.
Mudrunner and the others think I might have a problem with the NATS and hopefully Yendor and the other guys there might be able to help.
There were no symptoms before I stopped the bus in the car park but the old girl just wouldn't start up.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Mark.

Check if the fuel primer bulb pumps up tight, not sure where it is located on yours but on mine it is drivers side up high near the firewall.
If you squeeze it several times it should get tight, if it does not I believe there would be a problem.

Thanks TPC and mud gecko, but the fuel primer pump seems ok,
I haven't checked if it's thrown a clode like mud gecko suggested
That's a bit out of my league,
I can only do the basics.

If you are in the RAA you can get them to check it, they can read the codes.
Most mechanics can too but you would need to get the car to them.

Checking the codes looks harder than it is, if you get a short piece of wire and bridge the plug like in the instructions posted above, the engine light will flash the codes until you disconnect the wire. The other way is if you know someone with ECUtalk that you could borrow.

If it is throwing codes it will make it easier to narrow down your non-starting issue. Ask me how I know......

Hi Mark,

If the red security light stops flashing and turns off when the ignition is turn on, it's not going to be a problem with the NATS.

When you turn the ignition on does the engine symbol come on in the dash? as well as all the other warning lights?

You could try swapping the ECU relay (mounted just above the fusebox inside the vehicle) with the A/C relay (in box beside the battery under bonnet) or with another relay of the same color.

If that doesn't work and you do have plenty of diesel and the hand primmer pump is firm you will need to get someone to look at it.

To me the problem sounds like a faulty injector pump.

Hi Rodney, without wanting to hijack the thread too much, can I just ask if generally all relays in our Patrols are colour coded & all the same colour generally interchangeable?

Hey mate, Yes all genuine relays of the same color are interchangeable.
