I cannot figure this out and hopefully there may be an iphone nerd here to help...lol
I cannot hear music play or Youtube sounds, etc on load speaker with my Iphone4s.
Strange thing is that I can hear the phone ring and alerts, sms's, etc...Sometimes they don't work but most times ok.
I just can't hear the music play.
I can however hear music with the headphones or using the aux into speakers, etc and I cannot find any settings that I have changed or anything that would be causing it.
It's been months now...lol....Any clues????
I may have dropped my Iphone into a river one day for only 2 seconds...LMAO...May have!!!

Connect to the computer and do a Restore. Update if you haven't already done that. Good luck

Mum put hers through the wash a while ago... if you leave them in a bowl of rice overnight it attracts Asian nerds who will come and fix it.

That should to be funny but it is ;)
Have you used the volume button while your playing it? Can you make a phone call on loud speaker?
There is a volume control within the vid player too.

you got a drop of water in the headphone jack. ( the small hole in the top. ). happens to me when it rains and phone in top pocket.
I just place headphone pin in a few times, restarting a few times in between. After a day or 2, it always comes good.
cheers

You blokes must think I'm an idiot...lol
All of the basic questions above, yes all ok however...
I just noticed when playing videos or music and try to do volume up or down the volume icon on the screen doesn't pop up.
However when using headphones etc it works fine and you can adjust the volume.

Go to settings, then sounds and make sure 'change with buttons' is on. Then push the +button when your music is on. If it doesn't work, then I have NFI...

hey AB, Have you tried to do the reset thing where you hold the home and power button for 5-10 seconds?
Usually I'd say just respring it, But I'm fairly confident you don't have jb installed :p
Cheers,
Eric.

Nothing unfortunate about being jailbroken mate! have you got SBsettings by bigboss? If you don't you should get it!
Hate the vibrate when you put your phone on charge? Get the tweak to disable it! :D

To reset your iPhone:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button while pressing and holding the Home button on the front.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2013/11/74.jpg
When you see the Apple logo, release both buttons.
Your data shouldn't be affected by a reset, so don't be shy about giving this technique a try. In many cases, your iPhone goes back to normal after you reset it this way.
Remember to press and hold both the sleep/wake button and the Home button. If you press both and then release them, you create a screen shot — a picture of whatever is on your screen at the time — rather than reset your iPhone. (This type of screen picture, by the way, is stored in the Photos app's Camera Roll.)

Is there an option on the screen to switch audio outputs? Like from speaker to headphones, BT etc etc...

There was a known problem with the jack. Insert it in and out a few times, did the trick on mine.

Also clean the docking port, as with the jack port it thinks it is connected......bit of fluff or crud maybe there. Another fix, try and connect the USB cable from phone to PC, connect headphone via jack port, play a song and disconnect both, attempt the vol then. Also try gently squeezing the bottom left of the phone near the button.....it was also a known issue causing volume problems.

My 4s did the same and it did turn out that it was the earphone jack, had to insert the jack and wriggle it around a few times then repeat until it works took me a couple of goes.

We had this happen. Bloody sister in-law dropped our In the loo after she smashed hers..
Was all farked up like yours is.
Plug it into the cp, back up all your porn and crap and then factory reset.
It worked but eventually the corrosion set in and now it's a kid's Toy..
So in short..
Throw the farking thing in the bin.. And buy a new one. Not crapple..

I think some1 is pulling a middle leg.
As if they'll replace it. Water damage is not cover under their brand new warranty..

And not working properly is the norm so there wont be any warranty to honour

Could be a software issue, is your youtube up to date?
Could be fluff or crap in the bottom connector port
Could be water damaged from its swim. There is an indicator in the phone when they repair it if its been water damaged so you wouldnt be able to lie about it getting wet. I have heard of them replacing it with another iphone for $150-$250 though.

Same method they use for battery replacement, one for one. It's only about $10 to change your own battery.
