Hey all,
Hope everyone along here is ok, astro, RLI etc, just got smashed by a massive hail storm with larger than golf ball size stones, didn't make it home and had to pull over and wait it out, I reckon my cars f#%#ed, when we got home I had to unblock the roof one side had hail in the drainage part 3/4 of the way ip the roof.... Now they're saying possible stones larger then 5cm!!!!

So my car wasn't the only casualty today, got water in the house too from the ice blocking 3/4 of the way up the valley in the tiles near the front door.
My car roof and bonnet are totalled, will have to ring aami tonight and see what they say.

We were driving on the beach at rainbow beach, one second beautiful day, the next intense rain and nearly tennis ball sized hail. I am surprised that it didn't smash the windscreen let alone do any other damage. Fortunately it went pretty quick too.

I wish! The kids were out there playing in it as it was still hailing, riding bodyboards down the street, not until the father came home did they go inside... Oh well I guess as the saying goes, "No brain, No pain".
Cheers,
Eric.

A fair while back Mum's car got some bad hail damage on the roof, boot and bonnet in Melbourne. Covered by AAMI and the repair job was outstanding, could not tell it had been done. Hope it turns out the same for you.

What was your mums car worth Winnie? Somehow I think a 15 year old car that's worth less then 10k they are gonna write it off, if they want to do that then ill want to keep the car and just insure it 3rd party....
Cheers,
Eric.

We were camping at Pebly Beach, out in the kayak and it started raining heavy, we got soaked.
We arrived back to camp to make sure all was tied down in the savage wind that came up and didn't it bucket down.
Little did we know it was hailing like that just down the road in Coffs!!!
Ended up sitting round a fire with a clear moonlit night WTF?

I know how stupid was it Macca? A few hours after it happened the sky was blue sun was out like nothing had happened, Glad you didn't cop the hail up that way! I have friends from here who were up at Maroochydore in the in-laws van and its got 3 holes in the roof from hail up that way! All the cars in my street are damaged, Will be interesting to see if my work copped it as all the light panels on the roof are so old, I'm expecting some cleaning up to have to be done tomorrow!
Cheers,
Eric.

I got a better look at my car today, it's got a few dints, not enough to be claiming on insurance I think. It looks like the vent strip under the windscreen copped the most of it, it's dinted the worst.

I had a more thorough look today, I have a tent on the lip of the guard where the gap is between the guard and the bonnet.... I was thinking that the lip on that would be one of the strongest points... Not for big bits of ice I guess! The rippled section of my roof has alot through it too... Wish my luck would change soon!
Cheers,
Eric.
