Oil used at nissan dealer

Thought it was a little strange, the oil used at the nissan dealer for my service last week was "castrol magnatec" .. First time I have seen the brand they use on the invoice....
This was in a 3 litre crd

It's a good oil. They would use what ever they can procure.....

But does that oil meet what the zd30 needs the oil they recommend is a semi synthetic that they make and is branded nissan oil. It has certain codes that not all oils meet. I use delo 400 myself as it meets the same codes as nissan oil and I get 20l drums for $96

Actually I find it funny you often pay more than 5/10L retail bottle price for the oil, and they often buy it in 1000L bulk containers.

Went to local Nissan Dealer to get some reccomended oil, sorry mate only have it in bulk not for retail sale. Contacted other dealer, how many 5 litre packs do you want. How can you use the reccomended oil if some Nissan dealers won't supply it?

Because they want to do the oil change for you and charge you accordingly.

So the caltex delo 400 meets all the requirements ? Interesting we use that and delo 500 in our trucks at work. Were do I find the specs for the oil required. ?

Nissan branded oil will be what ever oil was won on tender.....it's all hype.
