Hey there forumites. Im the proud new owner of a 2005 GU IV ST-S 4.8. It has a 2" OME lift but otherwise it currently stock. Putting some KM2's on this week and have just ordered an ARB bar, and then save up for a winch. Then slow conservative build up from there. Just going for a capable tourer.
I live at North Lakes (Brisbane) and do plenty day trips to Glasshouse, and lots of beach trips to Bribie for the kids, and enjoy trips to local 4WD parks occasionly. Also love going to Fraser.
I got the Patrol after writing off my previous vehicle, an NM Pajero, at Glasshouse a few weeks ago. Now I can guess the general opinions on Pajero's, but my vehicle was quite capable and well set up, running on 33" KM2's, front and rear bars, diff locker, and the rest of the usual fruit. It took me most places I wanted to go.
However after coming from an all wheel independent suspension vehicle, Im quite looking forward to see what the Live axle Patrol can really do. After picking it up on Saturday, I took it for a beach run, and a quick Glasshouse drive on Sunday. Was impressed the way it crawled up a nice rutted hill, so looking forward to getting it back out there for a more thorough run.
Oh, and Im loving the 4.8 power. It's awesome to drive.
Here's a few pics of the old bus and the new ride.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Quick question. I'm getting new tyres fitted this week (prob today), changing from standard size to 285/70/17. The car just had a wheel alignment last week. With the change in tyre size is it essential that I get another alignment ? Budget is tight ATM and if not necessary I'll put it off.

Balancing yes, but I wouldn't have thought alignment wouldn't be needed seeing as you've just had it done....... Done much off road since last week?
Welcome aboard by the way, gotta love the 4.8s

Personally I would in the overall cost its a small outlay , no point in scrubbing out a new set of shoes and shortening their life , that will only cost more in the long run , just my 2 cents

Welcome Snaps,
I would save the money on the wheel alignment .... maybe I'm wrong, but I have never had a wheel alignment done on any of my Patrols as there is only a couple of possible adjustments they can make ( Toe and Track ) - everything else is fixed.
Everything else means replacing components .....
