Almost finished a 380km drive from home to Adelaide when I noticed these lights in the dash flashing. I was stopped at a traffic light in the 5 o'clock traffic.

When I took off the lights stopped flashing and went out. Seemed whenever I increased the revs a bit from idle they went out.
Patrol seemed to work fine.

Tomorrow I will disconnect the battery and give it a check and thus also reset the computer.
At present I can't think of any other thing that could cause this. It was only these 3 lights.

It’s a 05 GU IV 3l ST Patrol

Don't know about the 3lt but when my 4.2 did that it was the alternator .I'd run a multi meter over it .or maybe a belt tension issue

I also second the theory that it is the alternator.

Check if it is charging properly - should be between 14 - 14.4 Volts

Thanks for the good news. Had a new one put in in '09. Based on the behaviour of going off when the revs pick up possibly could need a bit of tensioning. I hope.

New OEX alternator in. Working again.
Old one lasted basically 4 years. On average I only travel 15,000 Km a year so it lasted in round terms 60,000 Km.

Now to see how long this lasts.

Outback,

That is a really poor run out of the alternator - unless you are constantly in mud :)

Was it a genuine OEM Unit or an aftermarket part?

Not much mud where I live more bull dust or just find wind blown dust.
The one that came out was a JAS Ociania one. Not sure if that means recon or not.
What ever last time I get one of theirs.

It's not that bad. But it does stuff up the solar panels. No idea how much is in the bottom of the rain water tank either.
Tough in a 4x4 one would expect a better life length than 4 years without hard mud driving. Most has been all highway, black top, as well so seriously unimpressed.
