Hi everyone

Hey guys,
My name is Mike, I have just finished yr 12 and I am starting my mechanics apprenticeship next year.
I'm new to the forums but I hope you guys could help me out with a little problem I have.

I have a 1989 Nissan Patrol GQ
About 6 months ago, dad was driving to work when he started hearing this from the engine.

The car has sat out the front of the house since then until now as i have time to work on it.
If someone has any idea whats possibly wrong with the engine i would be very grateful as it would make my life a lot easier when it comes to repairng the problem.

I had the same noise (I doubt its thw same) but mine was snapped fan belt hitting the fan how ever your sound bit more like a piston issue

@Kind - all belts are fine and its definitely something inside the engine. just not too sure where yet.

Looks like an RB30 to me, remind me of my old VL days, does the speed change with engine revs? If so I'm gonna take 1st stab and say a bearing in the bottom end.

Whip the rocker cover off and hopefully it will reveal your problem,
Small movements translate to big noises so do be too concerned ATS
