We took the patrol to cape levique on the way back the car just wouldn't go over 90k, I had my foot flat on the accelerator and it would just cruise at around 80-90k. We changed fuel and air filter, but the problem still occurs when we hit broome highway.

Sounds like you have hit Limp Mode ... do you have the check engine light on ?

Normally if it is something minor, you can turn it off, and the ECU will reset and you will be back to normal till the same fault occurs again.

I have had it once before, but I was too scared to turn it off till I got home in case it didn't start again, but it was only uphill where it really dropped and on the flat you could coax it along to 100klms per hour.

Probably native magic aimed at protecting tourists from themselves on a road where it is not safe to travel any faster! ;)

Either that or something to do with an oiled up sensor or some other computer trickery which no doubt someone will tell you all about once you’ve posted up an introduction.
