Hey guys thanks for the welcome I have a gu 2006 zd30 I have put a dp chip in it and also running a 3 inch exhaust system but it still seems to be lacking in power it also seems to be blowing a fair bit of black smoke when I accelerate and defiantly flat spots I was thinking of blocking the egr do you think this would help

First thing I would do is fit boost and pyro gauges to give you an idea of what the engine is doing.
How is the black smoke and flat spotting with the chip disconnected?

Not as bad I think but I'll have to double check that is it common for them to do that with the chip in them

And when you say pyro gauges can you explain a bit more

Pyro gauge is an exhaust gas temperature (EGT) gauge. If you are blowing black smoke then your EGT's are probably up. Excessive EGT's will quickly damage an engine that's why the pyro gauge is so important.
Chips like the DP chip work by altering injection timing and fuel quantity injected. Some of the better chips may also increase turbo boost. Black smoke indicates either excess ful or insufficient air in the cylinder.
