Hi guys, my name Dale and I live in SE QLD, I have always been into 4x4, fishing, camping, riding bikes etc... but never really had a good capable offroad 4x4. I looked at a SWB maverick today that has had an engine swap for a tb42e, with a garret ar 50 turbo, pwr w2a intercooler, autronic smc computer and so on. The body and interior on this shorty is immaculate, especially rust wise, a few dings but nothing I cant handle (270000kms on body)

Just had a few questions for you guys out there that might know a thing or two about these turbo'd tb42e's. The car starts and idles perfectly but as soon as you try to rev it the car just breaks down / misses , it is driveable but just misses and isn't pleasant. The engine seems to sound perfect no knocks or anything overly obvious, no water in oil (seems quite good, no burnt smell etc) im just trying to figure out if this is an issue with leads or plugs? or perhaps the computer? the owner has said I can do a compression test if i do all the work, so that's on the cards for tomorrow.

Just thought id ask for some help from some of you guys who may have had similar issues.

Thanks in advance

Dale

Welcome mate.
Heaps of great info here and top members to match.
Hopefully someone will help you out when the sun rises, but I can't imagine it being a hard fix. Definitely do the compression test seeing the owner is allowing it.

Anyway jump in and enjoy.

Hi Dale,

Welcome to the forum

It doesn't sounds like it is a major problem, but do you have a trusted mechanic that could look at it with you....
