After our meet up we are now camped at the back of the Rocky Cape pub. A free camp if you don't want facilities or $13 a night with power and spotless showers and toilets. One great spot. Now to the good stuff, we tried the Cape Grim scotch fillet last night at the pub and mate it is as good as you said possibly better. Might have to see if the butcher in Smithton carries their meat . Thanks for all the advice about the West coast but we have since found out that the Explorer route through to Zeehan is still closed due to a massive land slip which collapsed a large amount of the track from underneath so it could be out for some time to come.Measured the rigs the Corina punt and have 100mm to spare. Thanks again for all the advice. By the way the bridge on the track from Lake Chisholm and Milkshake hills is out and impassable and we don't know when or if it will be repaired.
May try and catch up before we leave if time permits

Oi! Get stuffed!

I did give them some cheese and and water haha sounds cheap when I type it!

Glad to hear you found some good info on west coast. It's hard to keep up with whats open, shut, washed away or collapsed lol. Cant believe the tayatea bridge is still out!
I've been trying to tell growler that steak is better than king island stuff.
I saw you cars parked near the fish shop too, I hope you got a good fill of scallops:-).

Looks like the weather will be good for Strahan.

It was very nice to meet you mate and I look forward to hearing more of your travels.

Have to agree with Lucas, the cape grim is the best steak (next to what I raise myself) Had it carpaccio not long ago and it melt in the mouth.

Pearcey, if you end up in the far south, feel free to drop in, always a cold beer or red to be had.

And you think manuals are better.....what's your point? Hahaha...

Reserve judgement till you try it;-)

Maybe I'll take you to the Stanley pub when you come visit me, but only if you're good

Good to see I`ve started a shtt fight, sorry a discussion on steak but the one I had was great
We did try the Cape Grim water in some scotch tonight but not in the Glen.
Sorry SonOf but we spent a week down your way at Cockle Creek a couple of weeks ago and we are on the west coast at the moment and only have 5 weeks left so heading back down your way is highly unlikely but then there is always next time.
As you know my mate wanted to try Tassie scallops crumbed but we were only offered imported ones, but were given halve a dozed battered ones for free. A fine gesture buy the owner. Crumbed Tassie Scallops are very hard to come by. The search goes on.So now we are trying to get our weather timing right for that gold seat trip in Strathan
Our trip so far has been great with no complaints and the big Island could learn a lot about hospitality .
Hope to do a report when we get home

Sorry Todd mate but Lucas was unable to supply the glen but some fine cheese and some pure Tassie water which I believe turns into beer was supplied cost free LOL.
Lucas did do some research for us on tracks and accessibility which was much appreciated
I would advise any body coming to Tass to contact Lucas as his knowledge is invaluable

Thanks for the kind words Pearcy:-)

That's bad luck on the scallops. Next best place to try would be resort in Strahan. I can't even think what it's called, it's up on the hill hahaha.

They 're not far away, here's last Saturdays paper:

Go for a little drive out of zeehan to the Spray Tunnel. A cool old mining tunnel dug under a hill you can drive through

G`day Lucas and Tony
We spent a full day at the Zeehan museum, what a fantastic place. It`s real value for money and if you don`t get it done in one day come back the next and get in for free.
The spray tunnel can only be walked through now as too many Toy### drivers got stuck or couldn`t handle the dark.
Tony mate you keep working hard ,pay your TAXES so I can still enjoy my life HA HA HA. Will have to meet up when I get back.
