Do we have a fast facts sheet... if not we should.

It would be good to have all the basics as far as oil types, amounts and so on.

I always forget what and how much and I have learnt that the knobs down your local dont always get it right.

It needs to be a sticky... and if there already is one and for some reason I have managed to miss it then sorry!!!

That's a great idea Jonathan, look forward to seeing it once you've made it =]

I could do it... but I'd only bother with the all important TD42

Fine then young man who does not have kids.... I will start on it... maybe someone from each type of Patrol should do one eg I do the GQ Petrol and Winnie the lazy prick does the ride on lawn mower and dazz does "What are you thanking Winnie for you bozo"

Lots of neck punches.

Awesome idea Johno.
Believe it or not I thought about the same thing.
I went to the liqui-moli site and you put your car in and it give you all oils and roughly how.much oil for each thing. Not sure how accurate it is though.

On the oil thing wouldn't most already know how much their model takes?
I'm with NN its in the handbook and everyone should have a Workshop model of their model variant, shouldn't they???

Do you know what would be a good idea if someone had the knowledge of a bit of php to create a script/chart where you put in your car details and the list pops up for...

Engine Oil type and amount and period
Oil and air filter type and period
diff oil amount, type and period
Tranny, gearbox, brake and clutch and others etc

No, not me...But that would be a handy feature to use.

Winnie
29th October 2013, 11:38 AM
Or just have the lists there and make the lazy bastards pick which one suits their car!

Robo

nice idea.
but don't follow, fire the computer up for info.
each manual has all required info near the front usually,
with all required detail, type and volume already.
think AB's systems have it covered already in each manual.

.......it's a bit awkward going into a shop and asking for "enough oil to fill it till it runs out the hole...." lol

Don't necessarily have to fire up the computer. Most users can access this forum from thier phone which is handy if you're in the shop already and can't remember what the manual says. Or you don't have a manual (yes it does happen!)

Yes as a download file for sure.

What also is good with excel or a csv file is that someone with php can easily use it to create an online script to formulate the data in an online form too.

Reminds me of my sister. She arrived at my place one night to ask how much oil her car takes. Turned out she kept putting oil into her engine but the oil gauge still would not go pass the half full mark. So she thought something was wrong. She had oil coming out of the exhaust. I drained out about 15/20 litres.

And the temp gauge measures cabin temp. :)
