Hi all. Looking at putting a winch in my GUIV genuine bullbar. The sticker on it says to only install a warn 9000. Surely others can too? Mick

Hi mate, yes anything that has the same bolt pattern as the XD9000 will bolt straight in.

Note that pretty well every other winch has copied the bolt pattern of the XD9000 and you can fit straight in ;)

No probs mate, just watch the length of the unit. Some can get long! Namely the TigerzII 11000 "comp" winch. Would not touch it anyway but just keep an eye on the length.

Most of the 9000 to 12000 winches will bolt straight in though bud.

Not sure what bar you have, on my 05 DX ute the warn 9500 is too long and using the winch mounts has the motor end 20 odd mm into the chassis rail.
Its cut and reweld the mounting or use a removable cradle and front hitch receiver which works quite well.

i would be careful as not all winches will fit, i had a bit of trouble when i bought mine which was the 12,000 runva winch which was too long for the space. i ended up getting the 11,000 comp spec for the same money and it even came with a free snatch block, happy days.....

I've been looking at the Runva's. They look good value for money. I'm building this truck as a good and capable tourer. Haven't heard anything bad about the Runva's so far.

I fitted an XD9000 to my factory bar and found that the winch had to be mounted upside down due to a brace in the drum opening fowling the cable upon winching out. Easy enough to flip it over but would recommend you unbolt the gearbox and rotate it so the gear leaver is back on top. And also don't forget to silicone the drain hole up as it will now be a catchment as apposed to a drain. And another also- your controller will now be reversed so you will need to swap the cables from the plug in the solenoid pack to correct that if you are fussed.
