Hi guys I am planning a cup weekend trip with the family and was thinking crooked river or haunted river tracks. Test out the new roof top tent and just chill out. Don't know the area that well and we'll be on our own so not sure what is the best option. Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

Haunted stream is pretty easy.....slow going but easy so I'm told and a beautiful drive. I'm planning a trip up that way at the moment and camping is scarce along Haunted Stream track. Remembering its a long weekend unless you set up camp on Thursday or Friday night, it'll be a case of being happy with whatever space you can find.
Collins Flat, north of Dargo on the Upper Dargo Rd is a nice spot. There's a ripper swimming hole there on a bend in the river and it's far enough away (last site from town) that not too many people venture that far to set up camp.
Lots of great tracks around the area though I'm not a big rap for going out by yourself especially if you don't know the area. That said you really should point the nose up the Blue Rag Range track while you're in the area, Billy Goats Bluff is a great drive steep and rough and rocky with amazing views at The Pinnacles.
