Micky Thompson ATZ 5 rib if you do plenty of road work and a little off road.
Micky Thompson ATZ 4 rib if you want it a little more aggressive.

I paid that for my 305/70r16 bfg mk2 through them as well. Not sure what the others price at, but that list was still accurate for me.

What style tyre does Bob require, IMO you want something that wont sap economy getting to the Murray or Kings hut,
still aggressive enough to allow you to explore or vacate these areas if the weather turns pear shaped.
Mickey T 4 rib always seem to surface. One of the better if not best all rounder going,
Someone should put up pic of the tread so Bob can make an informed choice, he may be flying blind

I am also investigating the Maxxis AT-771 at present as I have Maxxis 751's (Road Tyres) on at present and have had a great run out of them.
Have been found wanting in Muddy conditions ( as some of you can testify when I had to really had to punch out getting up from Pikes Flat to the Bluff on Clay) and I want a Tyre suited to both Road and Off Road. Not extreme but able to handle conditions in the High Country
Have been quoted $348 for Mickey Thomson
I have checked out the Tread Pattern for the Mickey Thomson on the Internet
Pic of the Maxxis AT-771. Not as aggressive as the new MTand I think will better suited to my application

Cannot agree more on what threedogs said. The mickey thompson 4 ribs always come recommended, and I my self have used them on my navara for 2 years and was more than happy with them. Very agresssive, while keeping it's on road qualities. I went out with the people wearing full MT's and never lagged behind due to the tires, always kept up.
Also, the 4 ribs have now been superseded by an even more aggressive A/T tyre. The mickey thompson P3's. I started a thread on them just days ago.

Can't comment on prices of them , as I haven't got any quotes.

Just beware Bob, the 771 is the Bob Jane import of the 700. When I bought the 700s my tyre guy told me that the 771 is a cheaper, weaker version. Just what I've been told.
But the tread is identical and they are a great tyre, awesome on road and I know the type of off road driving you do and they are certainly up to the task.

G'day Bob. I had BFG AT on my old MQ for about 12 years, never let me down and never had a puncher.

I'm running MT ATZ 4 Ribs, 285X70X17s, expensive and very noisy on the tar but great on the dirt and sands of the Simpson.
Previously ran Dick Cepek FC!!s, they where pretty good also, not nearly as noisy as the ATZs, but you can only get them from Bob Jane now and Bob wouldn't do me a "reasonable" deal when I wanted to go back to 17s from the 16" steelies I used to run.

I have run Cooper tyres for years now. Get between 70k - 80k out of them and rarely get punctures when off road. They work for me.

Bridgestone D697`s are quiet on the bitumen & I’ve found them more than up to the task in the wet on logging tracks, & grass. $265 each

Everyone else has had their say so I'm going to throw my Kumho KL78's into the mix! at around $230 a tyre for a 33" fitted and balanced I couldn't say no!
They are an a/t and have a fairly aggressive tread pattern, little noise on the road, and have been fairly capable for me offroad so far!

I've just put 31x10.5r15 Rugged Terrains by BFG for $240 a corner. They are a light truck tyre and are only slightly noisier than HTyres. I got through some very wet tracks on the weekend, but I didn't have as much control as the blokes with muddies, which is understandable. I only have two local tyre places so you might be able to get them cheaper. I think they are made in Mexico, but I haven't checked.
