Morning Guys,

I have a 1986 Nissan Patrol SWB, kitted out with a 350 Small block Chev.
I am doing a rebuild on the engine, and I was not the original modifier.

There is a strange cylindrical object sticking out of the back of the block on top in the valley.
The engine is straight Gas with 5 cabstar 5 speed and 4 barrel Carby.

Has anyone got a clue as to what this may be?

I think shallox may be talking about the thin tin cylinderical object?
If so, I still have no idea. Hopefully some help will be along soon

I had a cast iron 350 in my last 4x4, It did not have that.
Do you know what year chev it is. May be part of pollution gear,
does it have electrical terminal on it.
It may be oil pressure switch?

Might want to pop over to the intro's as well just something the Forum asks of us all

No it's not the Oil pressure switch unfortunately, that's the cylindrical object poking vertically ou of the top of the block and it has an electric terminal on it.
I don't know the year of manufacture ETC of the block yet, as I have yet to get the casting stamps and find out all that info, will try and do that in the next few days and post back here.

Thanks for letting me know about the intro, I got a little to excited and forgot myself.
