Hey guys

I know i posted a thread a little while ago about my air con, but being a lazy bugger i have yet to do anything about it as it still works.

Bloke at work has a zd30 gu and his ac was making the exact same noise as mine, and eventually gave up. Reason being, the bearing failed and allowed the pulley to move to much.

This has some what deterred me from even trying to fix mine and am now looking into replacing the unit, mate got his for $300 or something around that through a wreckers here (reco'd).

I have found a 2nd hand one out of a navara for $50, same model number (dks17ch) , but the pulley is the wrong type, can i swap my pulley over with a new bearing in it? using the new clutch and unit?

Thanks in advance

Lachlan

Hi Lachlan

If you are going to the effort of swapping pulleys over then you may as well change the bearing on your current compressor. If you are not confident pull the compressor off and give it to an auto sparky or a air con specialist and they should be able to renew the bearing and regas your system.

I'm not worried about pulling it apart, my main concern was that the excess movement in the pulley has worn the clutch out and scored or worn a grove in the shaft.
