Howdy all,
I have recently purchased a GQ form a work colleague. Just recently he had the diesel pump reconditioned for $1350. We had re-installed the pump along with new injectors. The truck has been acting up ever since. The idle screw had to be wound up by 5mm to keep it from stalling. The revs fluctuate when idling between 900 and 400 with no AC on or load. Checked the fuel lines and replaced the fuel filter and hoses. Also had taken it to the mechanic and had the timing done as well as the advanced timing along with an inspection into this abnormal behavior. The mech I had taken it to had used their own fuel filter and fuel to the pump. They said that the fault must be in the diesel pump. The mechanic doesn't know what else can cause this issue. The car was still drivable until i parked it up at home after the mechanic looked at it, now the fuel filter water trap fault light is permanently on and the car will not start. Due to my location the mechanics around here charge and arm and a leg. I was hoping that some one can give me some advice on what I can do next or check for. I want to be sure it is the pump before I pull it out and send it back under warranty, or have to send the truck down on a trailer to Perth.

Mate can't help you other than to say replace the fuel filters as the light is hooked to the filter, also go to the intro thread as it's something we ask all members to do, you will find you get more info if you follow protocol.

My guess would be pump too mate, bit much of a coincidence, but check the cheap easy stuff
New filter or even drain the bottom and re-prime (should remove any water)
blow the lines back through to the tank
if you find it is water in the filter drain the tank and flush it with some clean diesel
Hope that helps
