my 2.8 was pushing water out of the lower expansion tank.

The bottom rad inlet pipe was cold, so swapped the thermostat for a new one, flushed and cleaned the rad, got a new pressure cap and all seemed fine. Water pump has been replaced within the last month.

Yet, when I drive it now at over 3000 revs, the water system gets pressure again.

Deep down, knowing a bit about engines, I feel the head is slightly cracked and the crack opens under load, or the gasket is gone, knowing my luck it is the head.

be good to know what you guys think?

Not looking good... get it pressure tested or even try that trick with the plastic bottle in the radiator filler and see if you start getting lots of bubbles.

It only happens when |I pain the engine mate.

I think i know what is wrong, just clutching at straws really.

This is my first Nissan after always being a Toyota fan, the blerrie thing is emptying my bank account.

ah well, shit happens............:)

Sounds like a head issue. The 2.8's are known for it. Generally once you do the head they are sweet.

Thanks for your input pal, I know you know your stuff.

Got another head sorted, getting it pressure checked tomorrow.

To be honest, this Patrol is far better than any Toyota I have had, it is a keeper, so I don`t mind throwing money at it, but it is so bloody annoying.
