So I'm going to run 2 sets, but I don't see the point in running 10.5's on the highway with the black top k's we do.
So, how skinny can I go on a 7" rim?
Or should I put the 33's on the 7"rim And buy some 6"rims for the road?

Yea for sure. Will be going 33x10.5x15 for the play tyres, and putting them on a 7" rim, but fir the road tyres I'd like to go skinnier. Less rubber wasted, better km/L.. Etc etc..
But unsure how narrow I can really go.

I wouldnt think you would be able to go skinnier than 7" on a 7" rim though.
Isnt there a tyre vendor thread on here?

For the very slight gain in economy you would lose ride comfort. Running 31x10.5's if it's running well and driven right should get you around 11/100

Which I am. It's more about the dollar a set.

Hey, Kallen. I have four 31x10.5r15 wrangler RTs with only 7000klm-8000klm and 10-11mm tread on them. $40 each for 3. One has a professional repair in tread, $30. And one Dick Cepek 31x10..5r13 with slight cuts in tread as a spare. $20. But pickup only. Threedogs might have a set of rims for sale, too, but I can't speak for him.

Less rubber .. Less wear .... Less grip in the wet also I'd rather spend the few extra and have more confidence in the wet.

Yea all good points. Just a though I was having.
Probably will just settle with a good set of 31' AT's,

I was thinking of this too, on the 16 inch rims you can get a 235/90 I think it is which is basically a 31 x 9, cruisers are a big heavy car and they came out standard with steel split rims and skinnies for years so can't be too unsafe to drive, no dreadful tyre drone either

Bit stereotypical don't you think? I grew up on a cattle station and all we had were Toyota's, 80 series for driving the family to town (100 km's) and dad still has his old 75 series, which he uses for everything from carting 2 tonne worth of feed for the cattle home from town at a time, to towing 20 tonne worth of hay, to getting out and into town when it's wet cause the 80 never liked the slippery mud, all on skinny cheese cutters on split rims, just my experience, they can fairly take some punishment, still glad I saw the light and bought a Nissan, but don't write them off completely

@ Kallen Don't think they recommend fitting 33x12.5r to 15x7 rims
11.5r might be ok they are roughly a 32"
If its a cost thing go to your tyre dealer he may have a 2nd hand set
with 60% tread left, even some 4x4 shops have 2nd hand sets
@ Wintonlad I too am from the dark side 350 75s troopy.
Your words will fall on deaf ears Cest la vie

Yep, x2 with that. 12.5" wide tyres should only go on a minimum 8" wide rim. The tyre places I asked wouldn't fit 12.5" tyres to a 7" rim.
You can get 8" wide steel rims fairly cheaply and the shop will probably knock a bit off the price if you're getting tyres and rims in one go

Yea if I go 33x12.5 it'll be in a 8" rim.
I was originally asking as my plan is to get a good set of play tyres, I just didn't see the point of wasting money on 10.5's On the black top. But if I had to got 6" rims to go skinnies then no real gain.
Plan is to go a 4.3 diff change and constantly 33" AT's..
Fingers crossed by mid next year..

If you're going 33 muddies, and I know you want a second set to save wearing out said muddies running and the Mount.
Why not go something like a BFG A/T I have them on other 4x4 in 31 x 10.5r and got 110,000 out of them then sold them to my BIL,
who in turn got another 30,000 out of them ,then a few went bang in a big way, Used these tyres on the troopy doing Birdsville and the Dig Tree track just broken rocks.
High country on numerous occasions, just saying happy with performance of tyres as a 50/50 type tyre

Yea was leaning to the bfg's. They do a 33x10.5 to so might grab them an stuff the 2 set setup..
