Mq/mk front quarter panels

Can anyone tell me if a mq front quarter panel will fit on my 85 mk ute? I found a guy on eBay selling new front quarters for mq/gq but he tells me they won't fit an mk but I can't really see why they wouldn't.

I thought the bodys where the same on the MK / MQ - except for the front grill - due to the different lights.
