Changing tyres and welding in the outback, bush mechanic style.

Yes it may but if you break a spring, or radius arm.. I'm willing to f a battery to get my patrol out..

true, i spose a 200$ battery is cheaper than a 2000$ tow job.

That's my logic.
Also when welding a spring over lap/ layer it by about 30mm. And only weld along the sides.
This gives a far stronger joint, and still maintains original height..
ONLY IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS!!!!

Guys it does not damage batteries, but you must use batteries that are in good condition and fully charged
I have welded springs, a caravan draw bar and even a cracked diff ,we tried running 36 volt but found it had way to much amperage and started to blow holes even in 6mm plate.

I've heard that you can also weld straight from an alternator. Is this correct?

ill stick with the batteries out of the car to help prevent any further damage.

Don't ever, never, ever, even remotely ever think about welding a rim with a mounted tyre! :blowup:
