Hi All,

I am new here and have done some researching here and elsewhere but in the interests of current info and building my post :D count I thought I would ask.

I have narrowed down from what I have been able to see online between the ARB Deluxe and TJM T13 to go on a 2013 GU. Does either have any specific pros or cons? Looking at the ARB there seems to be some internal front guard metal work that becomes exposed on the drivers side and wondering if this will detract from look. The TJM looks like it has some thin plates that cover this area for a nicer finish which may offer some practicality by deflecting water/mud etc. Does one or other provide better winch mounting or accessibilty for servicing? Have I overlooked a brand or model worth considering?

With regards to winches reliability and ease of use is paramount as this is my backup if I get stuck in the bush late on a Friday night towing the camper to site with wife and baby along for the ride. I have been told that if you don't plonk it in water hot that a simple run in & out a few time after a water crossing should boil off any moisture if it gets in and that the same on a monthly basis regardless of use should keep it all happy.

I have narrowed the winch selection down to a Warn 9.5 XP or XDC otherwise a comparable capacity Runva option. For the negligible price difference, in real world application, is the speed of the XP overkill on a recreational 4wd and the more economical current draw of the XDC a smarter consideration? Are the Runva continuing to be a reliable and strong performer or do we just not hear of the failures because they are cheap enough to just replace when they die? Also open to other options if missing something.

Finally are there any smart preventatives that can/should be done to winches like tapping out a breather hole and fitting a nipple and hose? What are the pros/cons of wire V synthetic rope?

Thanks in advance!

I went with the ARB deluxe bar, scrub bars and dude steps with a Runva 12000lb winch. 3525135252

I run TJM gear ,and when looking for bullbars go the 4mm ones as a bit better with animal strikes,
I also run an XP Warn 9.5 winch with Dyneema rope, TJM outback side steps.
I can remove the winch without dropping the bulbar if need be

I have an ARB bar with a Kingone 12,000 winch and if I had the extra spare cash I would go one of these winch bars. http://www.millweld.com/a/Winch_Bars

I also have a Warn 9.5 winch but I don't believe they are worth the coin they charge, there are many options out there to choose from with varying costs and pro's / cons

That TJM deluxe bar looks great
I'll get some info on it on Monday for you,
on the winch side of things combine the winch and bar and you may get some $$$$ off

Cheers, I look forward to hearing. I think it looks the goods too! As for a combo price, that is what I am hoping.

The only thing I can see against the bar is lack of mounting options. No mounts across top rail for such things like aerials, sand flag etc.
I wonder if they'll add a couple apon request??

Forget the cable winches, Dyneema Rope is the only way to go IMO

Just waiting on a phone call for you about the bar

Edit bar is 3 mm and 2.3mm construction ARB is very similar
I have heard some pressurize the motor using air horn compressor,
Only need a few psi to work IMO

I reckon the ARB Deluxe Winch bar as per Mego's pics is the best looking bar on the market and way way better looking than the TJM bar IMO. The driving lights really set it off and lift it to the next level for looks I think. And they are made in Victoria.

Synthetic Rope over cable for sure!

Runva winch for the win I think. Mego got a great setup and I think you would be pleased with it. Not sue what the XDC winch is??

The Millweld bars ARE NOT ADR Compliant as they are Not Airbag compatible.

ARB deluxe bar and to cut cost Runva or Kingone winch. Best chinese winches on the Market, both companies are purpose built business for winches. There Chinese and there is Chinese.
I think the only thing for the Modern 4x4 today made in Aus is the ARB deluxe bars, which for me is wroth the extra money...

Mego, do you have anymore pics of your bar? Say front & side on from a lower angle so you can see under the main bar section.

I've got the same bar as threedogs and have taken down many roos and I don't mean wallabys and the bar just laughs it off.
I would buy another one for sure.

Thanks Mego. It looks a lot neater than it does on the ARB website. Got me thinking more about a Runva now too...

I called TJM yesterday and their bar actually works out just slightly dearer than an ARB fitted which takes any $$ attraction away. The updated version not as displayed above does look sweet though.

I'm surprised the TJM bar is more expensive. The ARB bar is very similar to the Nissan bar which is made by ARB.
I like the over rider bumpers on the ARB job. Also check the depth as some bars are very close to the grill, limiting
your Driving light choice. The only difference I see is the control box and driving lights blocking air flow,,
It may cause issues in summer, then again it may not

The Runva 12000lb winch fit in an ARB bar, just the engage/disengage handle needs to be heated and bent down to 90degrees instead of 75 and is a little tight to get to.
